About this page

DataDash's projection

For each riding it starts from the 2024 result and shifts it by how much each party's support moved in that region in published polls. It runs thousands of simulated elections to estimate each party's chance of winning each riding. It can't see strong local campaigns or late changes of mind, so close ridings were always uncertain.

The results

Results come from Elections BC. On election night they are preliminary, from the initial count at voting places, so the page says a candidate is leading. Elections BC's final count follows and can change close results; only then does the page say elected. Early province-wide totals lean toward the ridings that count fastest, so they can move a lot during the night.

A riding is marked decided, and its leader shown as having won, once its initial count is complete and the leader's margin is bigger than the number of ballots Elections BC says are still to be counted there (mostly mail-in and absentee ballots counted at the final count). At that point the remaining ballots can't change who wins. Elections BC publishes those numbers after election night, so most ridings show as leading tonight. A party has won a majority once 47 ridings are decided in its favour. Results stay unofficial until Elections BC declares them.

Comparing the two

The comparison shows where the projection and the count agree and where they differ, not why. A difference can come from polling error, voters changing their minds after the last polls, turnout, or local factors.
